Senior Luncheon volunteers meeting
This week, I went to Big Buddy during my Spring Break right before Easter, while the kids were still in school. I had a few worksheets about Self Appreciation printed out for them to work on. When I made it to the school the class I was smaller than normal only about 8 kids. They were working on an english assignment and a lot of the children were struggling so I decided to help them with their ELA work instead. I told everyone it was my last time visiting and they all told me bye and how much they were going to miss me!
I initally met at the Big Buddy facility downtown with Mrs. Gonzales. I organized my lesson plan and printed out the worksheets I needed for the class. I returned to North Banks Middle School and I mentored a class of about 10 girls. I taught them a lesson on Careers and gave them information they needed to start considering college. I gave them a career survey that matched their favorite hobbies and interest to possible careers. I also taught the girls about FAFA and other aids that can help them go to college.
I went to North Banks middle school and met with the children. It was about a class of 15 students ranging from 6th-8th grade. I had created a lesson plan for them based on anti-bullying and the effect it has on children at school. I printed out worksheets and surveys that I had the students complete. We finished up with a few classroom games. I enjoyed my time with the group of children and I feel like they enjoyed the activities I had planned for them.
Met with Mrs. Elizabeth Gonzales and she introduced to Big Buddy. She gave me a big buddy volunteer t-shirt and we went over the rules and expectations of the volunteering with big buddy. I picked a school I would like to go to and we also came up with lesson plans that each visit would operate around.
